JORDAN Flynn is gearing up for what he reckons is the biggest fight of his career so far.

The Cowley boxer, who has won on an Anthony Joshua undercard, will take on highly-rated 21-year-old Cameron Vuong at the AO Arena in Manchester on April 13.

The 10-round bout sees Flynn move up a weight in what will be a lightweight clash between two undefeated boxers.

Flynn boasts nine wins and a draw since his first professional fight in December 2019, while Vuong has claimed four victories, including three knockouts, since July.

“It’s the biggest fight to date. Eddie Hearn has put a lot of buzz behind him,” Flynn told this newspaper.

“It’s good and brings a lot of eyes to the fight. I’ve done all this before though, with the Kane Baker fights, but he hasn’t, so that shifts the momentum to me.

“There’s a lot of pressure on him. He’s a good fighter and he’ll be a sharp opponent, but I feel my experience in 10 rounds will do me good.

“I think he’s underestimating that I was a good amateur fighter, and that I fight better against actual boxers rather than just having a scrap, which some fights are.”

The bout will be Flynn’s first since his draw with Kane Baker back in August, in what was already a rematch between the two after Flynn won 77-75 on points.

Coincidentally, Baker faces Michael Gomez Jnr in an English super featherweight title fight on the same card which sees Flynn take on Vuong.

Flynn said: “I wanted to be more active, but at least it’s a big one and hopefully it will make up for not having anything until now.

“Beating this guy will really put me on the map as there’s so much hype around him.

“The fight after this has to be for a title. Kane Baker is on the same card for a title, and I’ll want to take on the winner of that.”

The Flynn-Vuong bout was announced in the ring after Vuong saw off Ishmael Ellis at the O2 in London.

Vuong attempted to bait Flynn for being from Oxford, but Flynn is looking to do the city proud, with some possible support from the Oxford United squad.

Flynn said: “He’s trying to say that because I’m from Oxford that I can’t fight or that I’m soft, but hopefully I’ll be able to teach him a lesson.

“I’m going to wear the away colours, with the light blue this time. That’s being made up right now, and I think it’ll look good.

“I’ve been getting to some games when I can, and I think some of the players might be going to my fight too.”
