KEVIN Giles was in spectacular form in clanging off 17 dolls (6-5-6) and leading Gladiators A to a 3-0 win over Bullnose A, writes ANDY BEAL.

Giles (pictured) starred in a consistent team display which saw the Premier Section side win all three legs in the Greene King Oxford & District League clash, with Barry Townsend chipping in with 13 (4-4-5).

Leaders Swan A produced the highest leg of the season with 36 in the opener of their 3-0 win over Woodman.

Pete Coates and Jon T o w n s e n d both hit 13 for Swan, while Charlie Buckingham was top dog for Woodman with 14 (6-5-3).

Barry Ruffels clanged off 14 (5-4-5) and Steve Greenough 13 (5-4- 4) as Garsington Sports A beat Six Bells A 3-0 to stay in contention for the Section 1 title.

Leaders Yarnton British Legion came unstuck at Black Prince, losing 2-1.

A six from Mick Phipps, who hit 14 (6-4-4), helped Prince take the opener and he whipped off the four needed to clinch the second. Yarnton grabbed the third for a point.

The Section 2 crown is still up for grabs after bottom placed New Club B beat previous leaders Crown 2-1.

New Club’s anchor man James Gilding clanged off the four needed in the decider for an unexpected win.

Six Bells D took advantage, beating Gladiators B 3-0 to go top by a point.

Mark Revill was in impressive form, hitting 16 (5-5-6) and it could have been even better – he missed with his last stick in the first two throws – as Swan B beat Queens Head 2-1 to move level with Crown.

Six Bells A Kidlington turned up in Christmas outfits at Donnington D and came away with a 2-1 win.

Florence Park A leapfrogged Chequers A on dolls after beating their title rivals 2-1 in the Section 3 top-ofthe-table clash.

Vikings Sports A stayed in the hunt with a 3-0 win over Chequers C.

Masons Arms A remain rooted to the foot of the table, despite their first 3-0 win of the season, which came at King & Queen.

In Section 4, Blackbird opened up a two-point gap at the top after a 3-0 win over Green Road A.

Donnington A moved second after a 2-1 win against Garsington Sports B.

Black Swan have been crowned Section 5 champions after beating nearest rivals Democrats A 3-0, After winning the first two legs, they knew clinching the third would hand them the title.

But they did it the hard way, clinching it only in the one-stick shoot-out, while Eamon Hanlon whipped off a six in his haul of 13 (6-4-3).

Section 6 leaders Vikings Sports D lost for only the second time as Seacourt Bridge came from behind to win 2-1.

Only five points separate the top six teams in Section 7.

Leaders Northway A suffered a shock as basement boys Marston British Legion triumphed 2-1.

Despite Henry Clarke hitting a six in his 12-doll haul (6-4-2), Green Road A succumbed to a 2-1 home defeat to Florence Park B.

Section 8 pacesetters Black Horse were halted in their tracks as they lost 2-1 at home to Catherine Wheel, but it could have been a lot worse.

The visitors won the first two and only lost the third on three sticks.

Second-placed Cricketers Arms could not take advantage as they also lost 2-1 at Northway Club C.

Red Lion A Cassington’s title ambitions hang by a thread after they lost 2-1 at Kidlington Football Club.
