BERINSFIELD ABC’s Eamon McDonagh triumphed over Ted Harrington on a split decision for the second time in a matter of weeks as the two came together again at Cheshunt.

McDonagh emerged victorious from their previous encounter earlier this month and Cheshunt’s Harrington was eager for revenge, making an energetic start and forcing McDonagh onto the back foot.

But McDonagh countered well, catching Harrington at will in the second and third rounds to take the decision.

On Saturday, Berinsfield’s Mark Goddard faced Birmingham City’s Kelly Martin in his first proper bout at Slough.

Goddard withstood an early barrage from his opponent, but after weathering the storm was able to compete over three rounds.

However, the decision unanimously went Martin’s way.

Berinsfield’s Benjamin Birt also took on Harlow’s John Dibble in a skill bout, where there was no result.

And on Sunday a squad of eight boxers made the 330-mile round trip from Berinsfield to Attleborough Boxing Club in Norwich for sparring to round off a busy weekend.
