Wychwood Forest Fair is a real treat for the family
More than 4,000 people are expected to attend the Wychwood Forest Fair for a real family day out on Bank Holiday Sunday.
The fair will be held at Fairspear Field, Leafield Road, Ascot-under-Wychwood, which is west of Wychwood Forest, on land that was part of the forest woodlands until the 19th century.
This year the fair will be hosted by a new live local radio venture, Wychwood Radio, which broadcasts on 87.7 MHz both live on air in the Witney, Burford, Shipton-under-Wychwood and Charlbury area and at the show itself.
George Hatwell's Children's Fun Fair will be a highlight, together with a Green Man children's storyteller, the Flying Teddies and several local Morris dance sides.
Local food will feature strongly, with spit roasts and delicious creamy ice cream made by Goodwins Ice Cream Farm near Bicester.
Cookery demonstrations will be taking place throughout the day too, thanks to Michelle Wathes and Phillip Kent, two Witney chefs.
In the arts and crafts and local community projects marquee, there will be 32 stalls promoting their specialities, including pottery painting for children.
The fair begins at noon and continues until 5pm. All children under 16 go free, while adults tickets are £4.
