Well what is happening this week then?

Not much really everything seems to have calmed down. Well apart from the hormones and wanted to cry one min and having a fit of giggles the next ha ha I had to go for physiotherapy this week as ever since I become pregnant I have been suffering with severe back ache. After an examination they found out that I am suffering with a condition called SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction). The symphysis pubis is the name given to where two bones meet at the front of the pelvis. The pelvic bone is roughly in the shape of a heart, and is actually formed by three bones, which are held together by very strong ligaments. When a woman becomes pregnant, a hormone called relaxin is produced which loosens all the pelvic ligaments in order to allow the pelvis slight movement at the time of birth. For some reason, the ligaments occasionally loosen too much and too early before birth. All this is made worse by the increased weight of the growing baby and sometimes the symphysis pubis joint actually separates slightly casing the pain.

When the Physiotherapist first told me this I panicked! I had read on the internet a bit about it but it sounded worse once it was actually diagnosed.

All I have to do now is make sure I do the exercises that the physiotherapist has given me and make sure I take things easy. What a shame!! I wont be able to do any housework or anything!! (I can hear my mum now saying “you don’t do any anyway” ha ha) Went shopping this weekend to buy a top for my Gramps 80th birthday party! What a nightmare that was!! There are some lovely tops in the shops at the min but unfortunately none that will fit over my bump! I didn’t think it was that big! But it certainly likes to make an appearance in the changing rooms ha ha Will have to start having a look for maternity wear now. But why is it that you put the word maternity in front of something and it adds at least £10 on to the price!!

I have my midwife appointment this week. Not sure what is going to happen I believe that she will check blood pressure and urine etc but I also have been told that she checks the baby’s heart beat!! Really hope she does! I have been listening to little squidge (a little name I have started calling it)on my Doppler but I just want a professional to hear it and reassure me that everything is ok Wonder what will happen next week? Wonder when I will start feeling baby move? Oh its so exciting!!!
