A village hall that was damaged after a car crashed into the building has been cleared by a structural engineer.

A car smashed into the building in Standlake on April 29 forcing the hall to close.

Staff at the hall - which is five miles south-east of Witney - created barriers around the entrance for public safety.

No one was seriously hurt in the incident in which a yellow car hit the exterior near the front entry - but locals were still keen to get back into their community space.

It has now been confirmed a structural engineer has cleared the space as structurally safe - and the hall is able to be opened again with some slight changes.

The front door and front parking will not be accessible.

Access to the hall will be via the wheelchair accessible rear patio which is clearly marked, through the kitchen or the Frank Douglas room.

A spokesperson said anyone with queries or concerns could contact the organisers of the event they wished to attend.

All planned events are set to go ahead.

The hub - which volunteers called Beloved - has already welcomed local voters back on May 2 for the local elections.
