It is exactly one year ago today since the last episode of Oxford crime drama Endeavour aired on television.
Broadcast on ITV for 11 years since its first episode in February 2012, the series acted as a prequel to the equally popular detective shows Morse and Lewis.
Endeavour starred Shaun Evans as the legendary Inspector Morse and covered the detective’s rise in the policing world.
Just like its predecessors Morse and Lewis, Endeavour also used the City of Oxford as its hub with lots of filming taking place in and around the city.
To celebrate the first anniversary of the iconic show’s final episode we have compiled a list of the key Oxford filming locations used for Endeavour.
Hertford Bridge AKA Bridge of Sighs
Nicknamed due to its likeness to the Bridge of Sighs in Venice, the Oxford bridge is a popular photo spot for sightseers.
The 1914 bridge acts as a pathway for two Hertford College buildings and appeared in Endeavour up on occasion.
Its most notable appearance was arguably in the sixth season when Police Chief Superintendent Reginald Bright was saved by a group of schoolchildren on tour in the city.

Radcliffe Square
Without doubt one of the most recognisable sights in Oxford, the city and university are synonymous with Radcliffe Square.
Inside the square is of course the Radcliffe Camera building which was built in the 1700s and remains a library to this day.
Both the building and the square in general feature heavily in the series as they did in Morse and Lewis with the area acting to characterise Oxford’s architecture in the fictional universe.

Exeter College
The first of several Oxford University colleges to make an appearance on this list, Exeter College will be very recognisable to fans of the three shows.
During Inspector Morse’s final ever episode, the college is used as the location for Morse’s heart attack.
The college also starred throughout Endeavour as well, becoming a familiar sight to longstanding fans over the years.

Christ Church College
Much like Radcliffe Square and Camera, Christ Church College is a major Oxford landmark which is visited by hundreds of visitors a day.
With such prominence in the city, it is no surprise that the college buildings are featured heavily throughout the series.
There were even a few shots of the location in Endeavour’s final season with Shaun Evan’s Endeavour Morse and Roger Allam’s Fred Thursday having a conversation outside on the meadow.

Magdalen College
Another Oxford University college to feature prominently in the show is Magdalen College which is famed for its Great Tower.
Although Morse author Colin Dexter did not attend the college, another literary great did as author C.S. Lewis was an alumnus there even writing a poem about the location.
The school inside and out has often made an appearance on Endeavour and even featured in the show's final season in student club scenes.

St Edmund Hall
The Hall’s Front Quad and Lodge featured in the sixth series of Endeavour, which aired in 2019.
Changes were made to the Lodge and tunnel area at the entrance with the notice boards covered in period notices and the Lodge getting a mini makeover with lamps and a vintage telephone.
The Hall last featured in Endeavour back in 2012, while filming also took place for Lewis in 2014.
