A woman charged with the murder of Jorge Carreno had “a fixation with violence”, a court has been told.

Scarlet Blake, 25, has been accused of killing the 30-year-old, who was found dead in Oxford in July 2021.

Mr Carreno had been out partying with colleagues when he met an unknown figure in the early hours of July 25 and was seen walking off with them.

She appeared at Oxford Crown Court this morning (Wednesday, February 7) for the start of her trial.

Opening the case, prosecutor Alison Morgan KC said she had “targeted” the victim, taking him to Parson Pleasure “where she killed him”.

She said: "It took two years for the events of that night to be properly understood and for it become clear that Mr Carreno did not die because of a terrible accident or because he took his own life.

"He died because he encountered the defendant on that night.

"He died because he met a person who had a fixation with violence and with knowing what it would be like to kill someone.

"The defendant was out on the streets of Oxford that night looking for a victim."

Blake has denied murder and the trial continues.
