Year 12 students from Oxford Spires Academy in Oxford travelled to London for the launch of The Elephant Group.
The trip was led by the head of sixth form, Ms Gray, to Senate House at the University of London.
The Elephant Group is a charity directed by headteachers, focused on increasing access to top universities through combined efforts of school leaders, universities and more.
It believes that talent is widespread but opportunities are not.
The charity note that 57 per cent of private school students attend 'top third' universities, compared to 23 per cent from non-selective state schools and a mere 5 per cent from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The objective of the visit was to start discussions about future prospects and begin guiding students' choices and procedures for university application via UCAS.
Students received presentations from Admissions Tutors and undergraduates from universities across the UK - including Oxford and Cambridge.
Students also gained insight into firms including Zero Gravity and Procter & Gamble.
Student comments included: "I learned more about my options for university" and "it’s going to take quite a bit of independent research to choose the right uni and course for me".
Louise Cowley, the headteacher at Oxford Spires, said: "I am thankful to The Elephant Group for inviting some of our young people along to their launch event."
