Emergency services responded to two major incidents on the M40 on Saturday night, with lane closures causing delays of over 20 minutes.

The M40 southbound lane between Junction 4 in Marlow and Junction 3 A40 was closed at around 7:10pm on Saturday (November 25) after a multi-vehicle collision.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Services and the South Central Ambulance Service attended the scene, which caused traffic delays of over 20 minutes.

A broken-down vehicle later blocked the southbound lane at around 11:46pm and the road was fully reopened at midnight.

There were also delays of over 20 minutes between M40 Junction 5 (Stokenchurch) and Junction 4 near High Wycombe after a car collided with the central reservation barrier at around 11:44pm.

Thames Valley Police were at the scene, which necessitated the closure of both the north and southbound carriageways.

The northbound carriage reopened at around 1:39am on Sunday morning (November 26) and lanes 2 and 3 southbound returned to normal operation at around 3:36am.
