Only Fools and Horses star Sir David Jason has issued a health update to fans following surgery.

The actor who played market trader Del Boy in the series has undergone hip surgery but seems to be in good spirits after a video of him walking without crutches has been circulating on social media.

Sir David was seen walking a few steps with his crutches before he dropped them to the ground and began walking towards the camera without them while music played in the background.

He seemed to be moving freely without the aid and even threw some punches and raised his arms, as if showing his muscles to the camera.

The video was shared to Facebook by the Only Fools and Horses page, with a smiley face emoji and a caption, saying: “As you can see, Sir David Jason is fighting fit after his successful surgery”

Sir David’s fans were pleased of his progress following the surgery, with one saying: “Nice to see Sir David in good health and good spirits also.”

Another said: “Good on you sir David”

Many fans simply replied calling Sir David a “legend”.

Only Fools and Horses convention rescheduled

Sir David apologised to fans on social media as the surgery meant that the Only Fools and Horses Convention needed to be rescheduled, reports the Mirror.

The event will now take place in the new year with Sir David announcing the news to fans via Facebook.

He wrote: "I am so very sorry for the disappointment and all the inconvenience it may cause but we are having to change the date of the forthcoming Only Fools and Horses Convention.

"Unfortunately I have just been advised I need a new bionic body part fitted. I won't tell you which part it is, or you will all want one! And don't worry it's not being supplied by Monkey Harris, it'll be the pukka gear."

He continued: "I really hope everyone will be able to make the new date January 13th and 14th. We can all have something cushty to look forward to!

"These events are such an enjoyable celebration for myself and the rest of the 'Only Fools' cast, and it is such a privilege to meet so many of you, but I want to do it with the smile on my face I always have had.

"Once again, please accept my sincere apologies as it was not a decision I took at all lightly and I hope that you understand my situation. All cushty wishes until then."
