Two vehicles suspected to be on cloned plates were searched by police yesterday (September 13).

The operation was conducted by Thames Valley Police's Rural Crime Taskforce in West Oxfordshire.

Officers also carried out patrols of beauty spots due to recent thefts.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "Please remember to keep valuables out of sight when parking and to report any suspicious activity via 101, online, or 999 in an emergency."

A company should, by law, officially register with the Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) if it wants to sell or make number plates.

If approved, this must then be produced in line with strict guidelines.

Motorists who are the victim of cloning are urged to try and obtain CCTV or dashcam footage to prove their car was in another location at the time of the offence.
