An Oxford University college has submitted a planning application to resurface three of its quads.

This comes amid concerns about slip hazards and dust.

Christ Church on St Aldate’s is proposing to refurbish Tom Quad, Peckwater quad and Canterbury Quad.

They also want to resurface the area leading from Peckwater Quad to Tom Quad.

The college want to improve the accessibility and aesthetic of the areas.

The planning application reads: “The current loose stone causes slip hazards, wheelchair manoeuvring difficulties, dust nuisance and grit transfer to adjacent surfaces and buildings.

“The proposal is for a tar and stone aggregate that can be installed directly onto a macadam surface utilising the existing drainage gullies.

“The proposed colour finish is a natural Earsham aggregate to match as close as possible the existing loose stone finish.”

The application was received by Oxford City Council last Monday (July 17).

No decision date has yet been set.
