Plans to demolish a supermarket in Oxford and build a hotel and retail store in its place have been rejected by the city council.
Oxford City Council considered the proposals for the Co-op on London Road in Headington in a meeting on July 18.

Developers were proposing to replace the Co-op store with a three to four storey building.
The application also included plans for a service area, cycle parking and drop-off bays on Stile Road.
Reasons for the council’s refusal of the application included some ‘shortcomings and lack of information’ in the submission.
Concerns were also raised about the proximity of the hotel to St Andrews Primary School.
The application was first submitted to Oxford City Council by developer Cantay Estates on February 22.
