A man has been fined after he was spotted having sex behind Iceland with a prostitute in broad daylight.

Steven Ross, of Dixon Street, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to one charge of an act of outraging public decency.

The court was told that an Iceland worker was retrieving a delivery on June 3, at around 5.45pm, when he noticed Ross, 49, and a woman having sex behind the store. The worker then immediately reported it to the police.

Ross's solicitor told the court that at the time Ross was “living and drinking on the streets”. Both people involved were very drunk and the woman was a sex worker, she said.

Police were called and the tryst reportedly lasted two to three minutes.

Sentencing Ross, District Judge Joanna Dickens said: "It is very upsetting for people who may see it.

"It is just a gross way of behaving.

"You don't know who's going to see it, it might be a kid."

District Judge Dickens also warned Ross to never do anything like that again as he was fortunate that he was not charged with exposure which is a far more serious offence.

Ross was handed a £60 fine for the incident.
