Jeremy Clarkson has told Hollywood-backed Wrexham Football Club that his Oxfordshire team is coming for them in a public challenge.

The 63-year-old sponsors amateur team Chadlington FC through Diddly Squat Farm which he owns in the Cotswolds.

He first became affiliated with the club back in 2021.

Chadlington has shot to fame as the setting of the Amazon hit-show Clarkson’s Farm and the football club even featured in season two.

Clarkson’s local football club finished seventh in Division One of the Witney and District League this season.

But the former Top Gear presenter believes that Chadlington has potential and may even follow in the trajectory of Wrexham.

Wrexham have just been promoted to the Football League after they were backed by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Mr Clarkson tweeted “OK Wrexham. Chadlington FC is coming for you.”

Following this, Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has released the odds on what the outcome of a Chadlington FC vs Wrexham FC match to be:

Draw: 50/1

Chadlington win: 150/1

Rachael Kane, a spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “At 150/1 to win, Jeremy Clarkson’s Chadlington would definitely need to find their Top Gear if they’re to lure Ryan Reynold’s and Rob McIlhenny’s Wrexham side into a challenge match.

“It may come to Diddly Squat, but we’d love to see what might happen if the Hollywood heavyweight’s take the bait.

“They might teach Britain’s old dog a few new tricks. If our odds are anything to go by, Clarkson’s bark is worse than his bite.”
