Dozens of Oxford professors have signed a letter supporting free speech amid a gender row at the university.
A total of 44 academics have said universities must remain open to discussing ‘contentious’ views ‘openly’.
This comes following uproar over the invitation of gender-critical feminist Kathleen Stock to speak at the Oxford Union.

Students have since been offered welfare resources to support them in the talk.
The university’s student union then split with the debating society, sparking speculation that this was due to the invitation.
The letter which has been published in the Telegraph condemns the decision of the student union to split with the debating society.
It includes high profile signatories such as the world-renowned biologist Richard Dawkins.
Kathleen Stock said in a tweet: "I'm grateful to the Oxford faculty who signed an open letter standing up for the union’s right to invite me, and have others hear me speak."
