Urgent bridge repairs have led to the cancellation of Oxford train services.

The service between Oxford and Didcot Parkway will not be running today, as bridge repairs are expected to lead to disruption until 11.59pm.

A rail replacement bus will be running instead between Oxford and Didcot Parkway.

The bridge affected is the Nuneham Viaduct over the Thames.

Engineers are currently surveying the bridge to determine the extent of the damage.

According to Great Western Railway, the extent of the situation will be made clear later today once the engineers have completed their work.

There have been reports on social media that the track could be closed for three weeks.

But a spokesperson for Great Western Railway denied this, suggesting that they were still awaiting the report from the engineers.
