Commenting in response to an Oxford Mail post, Facebook user Jabs Ali said: “Nothing wrong as far as I can see! Gave cyclist plenty of space.

"Do they expect drivers to dawdle along behind them?

"Looks more like free advertising to me.”

Another person posting, Adam James Cooper, said: “Can’t see a problem here…cyclist is cycling, vehicle makes a clean overtake.”

Jason Atherton said the incident was definitely not a close shave.

He said: “Don’t see any problem with that. No law broken to my knowledge and that definitely wasn’t a close shave.”

However, some people commenting on the post higlighted the rider was without a helmet.

Facebook user Aleksandra Klinska praised Pedal & Post for providing their riders with new dashcam equipment.

She said: “Pedal & Post, well done for equipping your riders with dash cameras.

"Can you also give them helmets and Hi-vis now?”

Facebook user Claire Elkin said: “Why hasn’t he got a helmet on!!?? Wow! Taxi gave plenty of room.”

Pedal & Post said their policy was the following:

"Cycle helmets are optional, half the team do wear them, half don't.

"P&P will fund up to half the cost of new helmets for riders.

"We'll be providing new uniforms soon.

"Cycle helmets aren't in the top 10 that would make cyclists safe."
