Each week, I select a number of stories which hightlight trade and tourism issues in the city.

Inevitably traffic is sometimes up for discussion!

This week sandwich chain Pret A Manger gave the city a boost by announcing it was creating two new shops.

Here's an idea of what you can expect

I'm back from a week's break in Edinburgh where some of the streets were full of litter due to a bin strike. I also saw trams, and not too much traffic.

I'm pleased to be back in Oxford but it can expect some trouble of its own, now that a consultation has been launched on the introduction of new traffic filters - let's call them bus gates - across the city.

There has been some loud opposition from some quarters, including the business community, and that looks set to continue.

There was some positive news, with sandwich chain Pret A Manger announcing it is to open two new outlets, creating more than 20 jobs.

These will be situated in Summertown and at the rail station, and will be very welcome.

They are due to open later this month, along with Popeyes, the fried chicken restaurant in Queen Street.
