THE sounds of the 1950s echoed around Oxford Town Hall as dozens of dancers took to the floor.
The historic venue hosted a tea dance on Wednesday afternoon, transporting those in attendance back in time.
June Anderson, of Witney, was one of the ladies in attendance.
She said: "It's such a lovely atmosphere in there. It's a very special place to dance."
Mo Tweney from Kennington was in attendance as usual collecting entrance money and serving tea, as she has done for the past 30 years.
The 76-year-old said: "We have a musician who plays lots of different stuff that the dancers like.
"He plays music from the 1950s, stuff people can dance to.
"There is no way you can dance to the music today.
"It is a nice chance for people to come along and meet each other and meet up with people they do not see every day."
Mrs Tweney said tea dances remained popular across the county, taking place in Woodstock, Witney and Abingdon. She said: "We had a really good turn out at the Town Hall; about 40 people turned up.
"I have been involved for about 30 years and this sort of dancing is as popular as ever."
