PINK Ladies rubbed shoulders with Katies and Granny Smiths at the annual Chadlington Apple Day.

The West Oxfordshire Village welcomed "outciders" to take part in its annual seasonal celebration on Saturday.

As well as vast array of apple varieties for tasting and buying, punters also had the opportunity to make fresh-pressed apple juice on site from windfall apples that would otherwise go to waste.

Barrels of cider made from waste-apples pressed at last year’s event were also on sale and locals made litres of apple sauce for the hog roast and apple cakes for the cafe.

More than 200 people entered the Wychwoods Creative Picture Competition which drew families and children representing seven different local schools to the event.

With hog roast and barbecue, live music, market garden, stall-holders and vintage-inspired fayre ground games, there was plenty to keep visitors to Chadlington fed, hydrated and entertained.

Verity Arndt, who went along with her sons Johannes and Thomas, six and four, said: "Chad Apple Day is a fantastic event. We came all the way from Witney and it is our best local event of 2016."
