FIVE MEN shouted "upsetting" racist abuse at a pedestrian as he walked down a street in Cowley.

Thames Valley Police wants to track down the group of bullies, who hurled insults from inside their BMW car earlier this month.

Officers also want to speak to another man who approached the 29-year-old victim afterwards to ask if he was okay.

The verbal attack happened in Randolph Street off Cowley Road on Thursday July 14, at about 5.40pm.

All five men were sat inside a blue one series BMW BG16, before three got out of the car and walked towards the victim.

They returned before they reached him, then another man from another vehicle check to see if the victim was alright.

Investigating officer PC Mavindra Narrainsawmy, from St Aldates Police Station, said: “This was obviously a very upsetting and concerning incident for the victim who was racially abused.

“As part of our ongoing investigation into this incident we would ask that anyone who witnessed this incident or saw a blue BMW in the area at the time to please contact me on the non-emergency number 101.

“We are particularly interested in speaking to the man who approached the victim following the incident.

“Thames Valley Police takes all reports of hate crime seriously, and victims are treated with the utmost sensitivity.”
