ORGANISERS of a music event have found a new location after residents raised concerns about 3,000 people descending upon their village.

Earlier this month North and South Hinksey residents were told the music event, 'This is May Day' would be coming to Oxford Rugby Club in North Hinksey.

Disappointed they had not been contacted sooner and concerned about the impact the eight hour drum and base event would have on the village, organisers decided to find a new location.

Cornbury Park in West Oxfordshire has been chosen to host the event which features artists, Stormzy, Snakehips and Shy Fx on Saturday.

Organiser, Freddie Goodall, said: "It is great we have managed to secure Cornbury Park.

"As this is further out than our original location, we will be running free coaches from Headington Road to get everyone to the event."

A Red Bull wigwam, food stalls and a second stage bunker will also be laid on for ticket holders.

Alison Wright, a spokesperson for Cornbury Park, said: "They have got a licence from the local authority "The music will stop at 10pm and everyone will come in and out of a one way system which does not go through the village.

"We have got a really good transport system during an event like this."

Andrew Smith, from West Oxfordshire District Council, confirmed event organisers had been granted a temporary event notice.

Ninety per cent of the allocated tickets have been sold. For more information visit thisismayday.co.uk/
