A TEA party was held to thank the volunteers of a not-for-profit shop which has been running for 15 years.
The Iffley Community Shop was re-launched by Sue Reynolds following the closure of the old village shop in 1999.
Alan Whitaker, a volunteer at the shop, said the party was organised as a celebration for volunteers.
He said: “We’re very self organised in the shop overall, with different people doing different things. I work in the shop, but other people sort out the deliveries, the accounts or the pricing.’”
Mr Whitaker, who lives in the village, said there were around 40 volunteers who keep the shop going for 40 hours a week.
He said: “We have these parties to give ourselves a pat on the back, and everybody contributes. Some people bring the cake, some people boil the tea, others do the washing up.”
The shop sells groceries and booklets published by the Iffley History Society. It also stocks local produce during the summer and receives donations from allotments.
